Terms

Fair ground rules.

These terms govern your use of Novolt. We keep them short and readable, without a legal laundry list no one reads.

Last updated: 25 augustus 2026Version 1.0

1. What Novolt is

Novolt is a software layer that steers your energy site (solar, battery, grid, charging) on a dynamic tariff. It's a control and insight layer, not a replacement for your hardware and not an energy supplier. You remain the owner of your installation and your energy contract.

2. The pilot

As a pilot participant you buy the Novolt box once. The software and the updates for your site are included in that purchase, with no recurring cost. Savings are measured per site and visible in the app.

  • Savings are measured per site and transparently, visible in the app.
  • Within three months you can return the box and get the purchase amount refunded.
  • You have full access to every feature, without restrictions.

3. What you pay

You pay once for the Novolt box. The software and the updates for your site are included in that purchase. For multiple sites or charging parks we make a tailored proposal.

  • No recurring cost for the box you bought.
  • One amount: the device is yours afterwards.
  • Within three months you can return the box for a refund.

4. Cooling-off and right of withdrawal

You get two cooling-off periods, and they are independent: the statutory fourteen days and our own three months. You do not have to choose: whichever is better for you applies.

  • Fourteen days, by law. If you buy as a consumer at a distance, you may withdraw within fourteen days of receiving the box, without giving a reason and without penalty. Tell us at hallo@novolt.be or use the form below. We refund the purchase price and the standard delivery cost within fourteen days of your notice.
  • Three months, from us. After that you can still return the box for a refund, up to three months after you received it. The box has to be complete and undamaged. Installation help already delivered is not refunded.
  • Return shipping is yours to pay. Let us know first and we send you the return address. The box stays your responsibility until it reaches us.

If you buy as a business, with a VAT number, the statutory fourteen-day right of withdrawal does not apply. Our own three months still do.

Model withdrawal form
To Novolt, hallo@novolt.be

I hereby give notice that I withdraw from our contract of sale of the following goods:

Description:
Ordered on / received on:
Name:
Address:
Signature (only on paper):
Date:
You do not have to use this form. A plain email saying the same thing is enough.

5. Your responsibility

You ensure a correct installation of your hardware and give Novolt the necessary access (credentials, network). You use Novolt within the legal bounds of your energy contract and notify us if something seems wrong.

6. Liability

Novolt is a tool, not a guarantee. Below is exactly where our responsibility stops, and just as exactly where it does not.

  • What we do not exclude. Your two-year statutory warranty as a consumer stands in full. We do not exclude our liability for death, personal injury, intent or gross negligence. That is not allowed, and we are not trying.
  • What we do limit. We are not liable for indirect damage: a missed saving, a higher energy bill, lost profit or lost revenue. For direct damage our liability is capped at € 1.000 per incident.
  • What we write, and what we do not. Novolt sends setpoints within the limits your manufacturer and your installer set on your device. We do not move those limits, and you keep them in place.
  • Every instruction is logged. Everything Novolt ever wrote to your installation, successful or failed, is stored with its timestamp and you can ask for it. That is not there to absolve us, but so that a discussion about what happened is held with facts instead of guesses.

7. Availability

We aim for continuous availability, but maintenance and outages can occur. For planned maintenance we announce it in advance in the app. The dispatch on your edge device keeps working even if the cloud is briefly unreachable.

8. Termination

You can stop using Novolt at any time; no cancellation is needed: you bought the box, you do not rent it. Let us know at hallo@novolt.be and we will erase your cloud data within 30 days, unless you request an export first. The box stays yours. What we do keep after a return or a deletion are anonymised measurement series: consumption and generation patterns without your name, address or site, which we use to improve our forecasts. They can no longer be traced back to you. The detail is in the privacy statement.

9. Changes to these terms

If we materially change these terms, we let you know at least 30 days in advance via the app or email. Significant adverse changes give you the right to cancel without a cancellation fee.

10. Governing law

Belgian law applies to these terms. Disputes are submitted to the competent court in the district where Novolt is established.
