Privacy

Your data, your site.

Novolt collects as little as possible and keeps as much local as possible. Here you read exactly what we do and don't do, calmly and verifiably.

Last updated: 25 augustus 2026Version 1.1

1. What we collect

Novolt is a control layer over your own hardware. We only collect the data needed to make the planner and the insight layer work:

  • Energy measurements from your inverter, battery, meter and charger: current, voltage, status.
  • Day-ahead prices via ENTSO-E, fetched to compute the dispatch.
  • Account details you provide yourself (email, name) to manage your site.
  • Hardware credentials needed to talk to your devices, stored encrypted.

2. Where your data stays

The principle is simple: data stays local where possible. Your edge device runs the collection and dispatch on your site. Only what's needed for prices, aggregation and remote insight leaves your network.

Local (on your edge): raw measurements, history, dispatch decisions.

To the cloud: only aggregated insights and what's needed to see your site remotely. Not the raw flow.

3. What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data to third parties. Ever.
  • We don't share measurements with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We don't use third-party tracking in the app. The public site carries one Meta measurement script, and it loads only if you say yes to it.
  • We don't train models on your personal energy data without explicit consent.

4. How long we keep data

Raw measurements stay on your edge device as long as you want; you can export or delete them. Aggregated history in the cloud we keep as long as your account is active; on account deletion we erase within 30 days. If you return the box or delete your account, measurement stops and we erase your personal data and your site history within 30 days. What we keep after that are anonymised measurement series: consumption and generation patterns without name, address, email or site id, which we use to improve our forecasts and our planner. Those series can no longer be traced back to you and therefore fall outside your right to erasure. If you would rather they went too, tell us before you send the box back.

5. Cookies and measurement

This site sets no cookies of its own accord. You can read and use all of it without agreeing to anything.

  • Needed to work: your language choice and whether you read in light or dark. Both stay on your own device and go nowhere.
  • Where you came from: if you arrive through an ad, the link says which one. If you then request access, we keep that with your request so we know which message works. That information stays with us.
  • Meta's measurement script: loads only if you agree in the bar at the bottom. The cookies _fbp and _fbc are then set and we tell Meta that a request came in, with your email address hashed and never readable. Say no and none of that happens.
  • Changing your mind: your answer sits for six months in a cookie called novolt_consent. Delete that cookie or write to us, and the question comes back.
  • In the app itself (app.novolt.be, after signing in) there is no third-party script at all. Nothing there is measured for advertising, with or without consent.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export and delete your data. Want that? Write to privacy@novolt.be. We respond within one month.

7. Security

Credentials are stored encrypted. Communication runs over TLS. Access to production systems is restricted and logged. We notify you proactively if there's ever an incident that affects you.

8. Changes

If this policy changes, we note it above with a new date and let you know via the app. We make no silent updates.
